After we had been to the ice festival, we had one more day before we went skiing. So, we decided to make an excursion on the bus to the Museum of Japanese Unit 731, which was a very brutal germ warfare testing unit during the Sino-Japanese War. They were very secretive and no one really knew what they did at the time. When the Russians began moving in on the country, the people destroyed the lab and fled. Over the years they had done many experiments on many people. Here is the video we made of our trip.
Hey Jake,
Your website was a big inspiration for my coming abroad--currently teaching at a hagwon in Daejeon. Just thought I'd drop a line and say thanks. I thought about China, but was a little concerned the cold of the North. South Korea is very cold, but it is also very industrialized--I need my high speed internet connections without worrying about loss of electrical power. I saw a couple of documentaries about the atrocities at Harbin and the fact that the U.S. government grabbed the information and "evil" scientists before the Russians could pick apart their brains. So these monsters lived out their lives in the comfort of the U.S.
Thanks again,
John from Daejeon
